NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact - FAVE or Fail?

If you read my post a few weeks back, then you already know about the box of awesomeness that I received from Influenster.  Well, now that some time had passed and I have had a chance to try out the products that I received in my Beauty Blogger box.  I hope my personal experience and beauty advice can help you when deciding what make up looks are right for you!

I really like a lot of the NYC product line.  They are all very affordable and good quality.  I have been pleased with every product I have tried and the new IndividualEyes Custom Color Compact is no different.

This cute little eyeshadow compact retails for a mere $4.99 and you get four shades, a highlighter, and an illuminator.  Not bad.  There are six different color compact choices - each accentuating a different eye color.  I received the "Union Square" blend for brown eyes.  The colors are really pretty and they blend nicely with my eye color AND skin tone.

I will say that I have used the primer a couple of times and it is okay - not the greatest but it works decent for the price.  I usually do not use primer any ways so it is more of an added step in my routine.  The colors are great for the Fall/Winter season and they really add some sexy oomph to my eyes.  I would recommend using a good eyeshadow brush for application so you can create the look you want and not end up with too much color (or not enough!).

Have you tried this color compact or any NYC product?  Which is your favorite?  I am always looking to try new make up and beauty products so let me know what YOU think!

**I received this product for free as part of a promotional program from Influenster.  All opinions are my OWN.  Thanks**

My Beauty Blogger VoxBox Overview Courtesy of Influenster

Influenster is at it again!  This time they have sent me a Beauty Blogger VoxBox packed full of goodies to try out and I couldn't be more pleased with the selection.  In my opinion, Influenster is really at the fore front for innovation, brand marketing, and product testing.  With the updated website and ongoing VoxBoxes, they really know how to keep their members satisfied and engaged.

So....What kind of awesome beauty products did I get to test out this time?  I am so excited to share them with you!  This review is only my overview post and within the next couple of weeks, I will review all of the products individually after testing them out.  I like to give my full honest opinion once I really know how I like (or not like) a product.

A Beauty Lovers Dream
I kind of gave this box my own name - "A Night on the Town".  This is because it has almost everything a girl needs to get ready to enjoy an evening out.  A yummy smelling candle to set the mood while getting ready, some energy boost powder to mix into a drink, some eye makeup products for sexy eyes, and some hair things for an awesome up-do.  Good to go!

One of the first items I pulled out of my beauty Blogger Box was this awesome smelling candle.  Hello?  Pumpkin Cupcake?  Yum!  At first glance (or sniff), it smells pretty amazing and I am looking forward to lighting it.  This mini candle can be found at Bath & Body Works (love that store!) and retails for $3.50.

Next, we have some EBOOST effervescent powder which claims to boost your mood, give you focus, and increase your immune system.  You can drink it daily for an extra upmh to your system.  This retails at $28 for a box of 20 powders.

Moving on....We have a trial sized bottle of Not Your Mother's Smooth Moves Frizz Control Cream.  I probably could have gotten more use out of this during the humid summer, but my hair can always use a little taming.  This cream is infused with coconut and silk extracts - how luxurious!  It retails for $6.00 for a 4-oz bottle.

For the hair, we have a Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin.  I can't wait to try this in my long hair.  Having a two year old who is always sneaking up with a brush in hand, ready to tear at my scalp, this will come into much use ;-)  According to the package, you just twirl your hair up, spin the two pins together and you have a perfect loose bun.  Ooh la la.  This retails for $7.29 in store.

This product should be interesting!  It is Kiss Ever Pro Lashes Starter Kit.  I already have pretty nice long lashes but am a bit stoked to try out some false lashes so I can achieve that perfect lash look that I see in mascara ads.  I just hope these are easy to apply AND remove.  Retailing at $5.99, these lashes also have a great price point.  Plus they are made with 100% human hair.

Last, and my favorite product of the box, is the NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact.  Retailing at only $4.99, this awesome little compact has everything included to achieve a complete eye look.  Primer, illuminator, and complementing shadows make this little kit a complete win.  Plus, they sent me the kit for brown eyes so it should compliment my features.  I love experimenting with different eye shadows and the colors included here are perfect for the season.

Overall, I am greatly satisfied with the products contained in my Beauty Blogger VoxBox and am glad that Influenster chose me to review them.  What girl wouldn't love an box filled with beauty???

Until next time, stay beautiful!

**DISCLOSURE:  I was sent these products to try out for free as part of a promotional program on behalf of the above brands and Influenster.com.  All opinions are my own and are in no way affected by compensation.  Thanks.**

Why I LOVE being an Influenster :-)

If you are a blogger or love to share amongst the social media circuit, then you probably already know about Influenster.  If you don't, you are MISSING OUT!

What exactly is Influenster?  Well, this is the description given on the website:

****Influenster [in-floo-uhn-ster]

noun
An exclusive online community where tastemakers and trendsetters (such as yourself) come to share the latest and greatest news, places, products, and reviews with each other. 2. The hotspot you just bookmarked on your web browser that turns your social influence into sweet rewards.
Basically, Influenster is a place for culture junkies to come together and share their unique opinions of products and experiences. Active members of Influenster get exclusive access to deals, promotions, and swag from brands that thrive off the input (the good, the bad, and the ugly -- they just want to know what's up). ****

If you love trying out new products and sharing your opinion, then this site is perfect for you.  I have had the opportunity to try out so many awesome new products such as:

  • Stash Tea

  • Clear Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color
  • NYC Liquid LipShine
  • ProActiv Treatment System
  • Gillette Venus Pro Skin Razor and the Olay Razor

And MORE!  I love trying out new products and Influenster really delivers.  They send out a box of goodies to selected members (based on a members profile demographics) for testing and reviewing.  The box is called a #VoxBox and they have different types like Beauty, Bridal, Animal, Food, and Holiday themed.  Each box contains a great assortment of products to play with.  They also offer brand challenges for each box and brand included and that offers a member to get even more awesome products!  I recently won the Sally Hansen Brand Challenge and was sent a Salon Effects Nail Set as a prize.

I just love this site.  They recently revamped the site and upgraded the way they run things and now it is even better and more engaging.  I also have the opportunity to invite five INFLUENTIAL friends to join and be on my Influenster team.  Do you have what it takes to be an Influenster?  If so, then leave me a comment stating why you think you should be on my team and your e-mail address.  I am looking to pick five people to join in on the fun!

In the meantime, check out Infleunster on Facebook and read up on all of the happenings!

Stronger Hair One Strand at a Time with Clear Scalp and Hair Beauty Therapy

One of the great beauty products that I received in my Summer Beauty VoxBox from Influenster was the Clear Scalp Hair and Beauty Therapy.  This was kind of a bonus product in the box so I was happy to get the extra goodies to try out and share!

Ready to shower!
I always used to say that my hair "is wild like my personality".  Well, that was when I was younger and more wild - my hair was too!  I used to have somewhat curly, somewhat frizzy, somewhat wavy hair but after a few kids and age (I am not OLD, just older) my hair has tamed a considerable amount.

It is still a bit curly along my hair line but it is definitely less full than it used to be.  That is one of the reasons I was excited to try out this Clear Scalp Hair and beauty Therapy.  Since 99% of the hair's natural strength comes from the scalp, it seems feasible that a shampoo and conditioner would nurture that area of the head.

Clear Scalp Hair and Beauty Therapy worked pretty well on my hair and scalp.  Lately my scalp has felt dry and I did notice after using this shampoo and conditioner for a week, my scalp was noticeably less itchy.  the bottle designs are sophisticated and a pretty color.  The texture/lather of the shampoo is good and the conditioner smooths on well without the extra heaviness.  It smells okay - a little too medicinal for me - but I do prefer fruity smells, bakery smells, aromatherapy smells.

Clear Scalp Hair and Beauty Therapy claims to work in seven days to achieve a healthier scalp and stronger locks of hair.  I think it worked to make my hair feel better.  It is infused with Nutrim 10TM technology (vitamins and nutrients) which are the foundation of it's broad line of shampoos and conditioners.  They offer SIX different shampoo types and FIVE different conditioner types to meet all hair needs.  Available at most mass retail stores, you can pick these up for a competitive price of $4.99-$5.99.  This price point is pretty reasonable and comparable to other major hair care lines plus it offers more benefits.

Thank you Influenster and Clear Scalp and Beauty Therapy for sending me this great product to try out for free.  I love sharing my opinion and being able to test cool beauty products :-)

Check out Clear on Facebook and you can also send them some Twitter love!
You can also read some real ladies reviews on this product here

Have you tried this product?  I would love to hear what you think about it.  Was your scalp and hair noticeably stronger after seven days?

Pretty sophisticated bottle design

#GetMagnetic with Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color

Yay Influenster!  I say that because they are continuously sending me awesome new beauty products to try out and share my opinion.  I have a slight fetish for beauty products and just get so excited when I get new fun products to try.  Like the Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color.  This was sent to me in my most recent Summer Beauty VoxBox (along with a bunch of other fabulous products to try).

What a cool finish this polish gives!

It was really easy to apply, though a little more time consuming than regular nail polish.  That is because you apply a coat to all of your nails - let dry - then apply a second thick coat (one nail at a time) and let the magnet hover over the nail for 10 seconds to create this cool effect!  It dries fast too which is nice (especially for me since my children were running around while I painted my nails).

I was a little concerned that it would dry bumpy because of the thick coat application and waviness that the magnet created but it didn't.  It dried perfectly smooth with a super sheen.  Love it.

The color I received from Influenster was Red-y Response but there are a whole array of cool colors to choose from (green, blue, silver, gold...)  It retails for about $10.00 but is worth every penny if you want to achieve a unique look for your nails.  Plus it lasts for a while (just make sure to apply a top coat to protect your nails).  I am going to paint my eight year old daughter's nails today :-)

Right Now, on the Sally Hansen Facebook page, there is a contest running where if you upload a photo to Instagram you can win $1,000 or a Sally Hansen prize bag.  See the contest rules for the finer details.  I entered because I sure could use a $1,000!  Who couldn't???  A prize pack would also be pretty sweet.

So thanks again to Influenster for sending me this product to try for FREE and to Sally Hansen for participating in the Summer Beauty VoxBox.  As always, though I did receive this product as a comp, the opinions expressed are only mine.
